Rev. Dr. Mathew Koshy (Biju Achen) is a graduate of the Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam and was ordained as a priest in 1989. Achen completed his Master of Theology and Doctor of Theology in Pastoral Care & Counseling at Columbia Theological Seminary in Georgia. Following his training, Achen received a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy at the American Association of Pastoral Counselors Institute in Atlanta and completed his residency thereafter.
Achen served as the General Secretary of the Orthodox Sabha Balasamajam for nearly a decade, and more recently as the Director of the Sunday School Association and Vice-President of MGOCSM of the Southeast Region of our Diocese. Achen is also the founder of OOCA (Oriental Orthodox Churches of Atlanta). Achen has authored several books and articles and has a passion for pastoral care and counseling with a focus on marriage and family life.
Achen presently serves as the Vicar of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Atlanta and resides in Atlanta with his wife Susan, and three children, Bijin, Beena & Sheba.
